This Interactive Insect Walkabout Show is an educational initiative to teach children how to protect and grow our depleting insect populations.

Our Insect Street Theatre Show founder and Walkabout Performers have over 28 years of experience and have worked globally.

This experienced team are now recognising the impact of the loss of insects worldwide, through this fun educational initiative.

With great success, our insect performers for hire have enrolled their Bespoke Show out to hundreds of children and adults at various Parks, Festivals and Museums.

Some shocking facts are that we have lost 40 to 70% of our insect population over the last 30 years and this climbs by a staggering 2.5% each year.

Our amazing bugs ensure the pollination and growth of our plants, trees and grasses.

What types of events is our Insect Street Theatre Show designed for?

This touring road show-style show is ideal for numerous venues and event types. Primarily designed for outdoor space due to its nature, however, it can also be adapted indoors.

Previously our interactive insect walkabout show has toured the whole of the UK, including, The Art and Biodiversity Festival Summerhill Pavilion, Hadrians Wall Festival, Dandelion Festival, Preston Park Museum and The Fort Shopping Centre.

This programme can be booked for a singular day or even better multiple times for a long-running event schedule.

What’s required on-site?

A minimum of 10m by 10m performance space for our insect walkabout education show to be able to perform. An information structure such as a van or self-built, that’s a minimum of 6m by 4m by 2m. A planting area and or planting beds/pot to put the provided plants and soil into. Our insect performers for hire will also need a changing area.

Scheduling for our Walkabout Giant Insects Show

Find out below how an itinerary of activities is usually formatted and what these consist of.

What does a typical day line-up consist of?

A 4-hour lineup which can be adjusted to suit your needs. Below is an example of a typical day running.

11.30 am – A discussion using information panels to set up the day’s agenda. Games include interactive giant jigsaws and community building.
12.00 pm – Insect performers for hire do the Butterfly Ant Dance and Walkabout.
12.40 pm – More fun educational games and organised planting of flowers.
1.10 pm – The waggle dance with your insect walkabout characters including our bee, wasp and musical ant.
1.40 pm – Further organised educational talk and discussion with additional games.
3.00 pm – Interactive butterfly dance with our walkabout giant insects.
3.40 pm – Last educational talk and games and more organised planting.
4.00 pm – End of programme.

What do the discussions consist of?

Our insect performers for hire will talk about how incredible our bugs are and all the things they do for us. Our insect street theatre show will then talk about how we can work together in order to save our incredible insects, and all the different ways we can implement these going forwards into our everyday lives! This is all accompanied by getting hands dirty with fun plant potting where we learn how to create a greener world for all.
