For example, for this Alice in Wonderland Themed Event, we used the green, pink and blue colours to convey the tone. Specifically highlighting our set design with a vibrant green.

TIP: Take your event lighting to the next level by having a lighting operator change the lighting as the event is happening rather than having static lights.

They will re-direct lights and change the lighting to suit the audio at the event.

Enchanted Garden – Day to Night

Tips for Evening Lighting

Use ambient lighting such as chandeliers, fairy lights, and candles (safety first.)
Apply accent lighting to highlight certain areas such as seating.
Light pathways to guide guests throughout your event space.
For impact use gobos – cut-out stencil projections that highlight surfaces or project onto walls.

Using Projection Lighting

So we’ve got the basic lighting in place to set the overall feel and atmosphere of the event. Now let’s get into the next stage of event lighting – projection lighting and mapping.

It’s important your sound system is set up correctly for the venue and a technical expert will be required for this.

Your audio needs to be suitable for the venue size, the number of guests in attendance and of course if your event includes performers, guest speakers and more – the audio for this will also have to be set up.

Remember that the audio will also have to be adapted as the event goes on – for example, you may have a stage performance with a LIVE band followed by a LIVE DJ set – the audio will have to be adapted to suit each performance.

Audio will also be used differently depending on the event type.

For example, for a conference, the sound may just be the speakers used for the guest speakers on stage and perhaps music to play in between sections.
