I love Halloween – it’s the time of year as a creative events agency we get to let our imagination go wild – or twisted some might say.

The Goriest Halloween Event Theming Yet
Let’s go on a nightmare journey through my favourite Halloween Event Transformations at Julia Charles – to inspire your gory Halloween Events in 2024!
Cult Horror Halloween Mansion
Our client wanted more than just a party; they sought an awakening within this incredible mansion. We created a narrative of a secret cult gathering with our cult horror theming, drawing guests into a world where reality is blurred with the supernatural and all things gruesome – and the guests loved it.
Enter the Halloween Themed Hallway
With this Halloween event, I enjoyed the embrace of the dark side! The cult signifies something disturbing, ritualistic and enigmatic – the team brought this to the mansion and more.
What stood out about this transformation for me was the vibrant red-soaked hallway – a clever light projection trick which gave the powerful entrance a harrowing yet captivating look.
Inside the hallway, guests were greeted by monolithic plinths with candles burning shadows of the terrifying figures across the hallway and up the magnificent winding staircase.
As Halloween entrances go – this one had it all for me – suspense, horror and mystery as guests pondered what they were going to be met with in the other rooms of the mansion!
Creating the Halloween Slaughterhouse – the stuff of nightmares!
We transformed each room into a distinct zone with our event design expertise, seamlessly connecting one space to the other for an immersive experience like no other.
My personal favourite was the ‘butcher’s slaughterhouse.’ Where Julia herself designed the entire set. This Halloween theming is a truly terrifying concept that added a new narrative element to the cult! What torturous thing happened in this room and why?
From the blood-lit room, hanging hooks, strewn body parts and torture chair – guests got to experience their very own horror movie – and who doesn’t want that for Halloween?
Cult Emblems
Another feature that our creative team designed throughout this cult theme was bespoke signage. Cleverly incorporated into the DJ booth, product bottles, 3D projection lighting and props – after all what is a cult without an emblem?

Turning Nightclubs into an Iconic Movie Halloween Event Theme
In 2023 we got the great honour of transforming the TABU nightclub in London with a SAW movie theme!
The SAW franchise was created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, featuring John Kramer (known as Jigsaw) as the main protagonist, focusing on his elaborate and deadly games designed to test his victims’ will to live.

We took on the ultimate test of bringing this macabre franchise to life throughout the nightclub space.
My personal favourite set design was the bathtub scene inspired by the original SAW movie!
From Design to Reality – Halloween Theming
Julia Charles’ creative event director Michael took the helm on this one, taking clubbers into the SAW world as they witnessed blood-splattered messages on the wall from victims.
If that wasn’t enough this Halloween theming took a very sinister turn as the iconic bathtub sat illuminated waiting for its next victim. Guests weren’t too afraid though and loved posing with the set design in all its legendary gruesome glory! or should i say gory?
SAW IV Electric Chair
As Halloween event planners we dedicate ourselves to bringing to life immersive experiences for your guests. And how could I not mention the terrifying electric chair from SAW VI?
Our design didn’t involve any traps however, the only test was for guests to pull their most tortured expressions – no holding our breaths on this one.
Delivering our message with Billy the Puppet
It wouldn’t be a SAW themed Halloween event without Billy the Puppet! This utterly terrifying icon in the franchise delivers messages to Kramers victims – challenging them to escape their traps or face the consequences.
Throughout the TABU space one of my favourite features was the television stand featuring multiple screens of Billy in all his menacing glory, greeting nightclubbers as they entered the space.
In 2024, we returned to TABU and REIGN nightclub for two more Halloween transformations. See how we used Egyptian and Asylum theming to enhance these unique spaces.
Carnival of the Dead – By a UK Halloween Event Company
As an immersive Halloween event company, we got the pleasure of delivering Saudi ‘Horror Fest,’ – a 3-month long horror festival that attracted thousands of visitors over its span.
Saudi Horror Festival Event
The Saudi Arabia Horror Festival was produced as part of Riyadh Festival, and we got to be a massive part of it.
Tasked with producing unique scare attractions and world-class entertainment. On top of this, we had the challenge of logistics – taking our bespoke sets and props from our UK studio to Saudi.
Demon Heads and Rampaging Zombies!
My favourite Halloween event theming so far for scale has to be the creative design that came from this event! From hellish combinations of huge roaring demons to severed heads and rampaging zombies.
Unnerving Interactive Walkabout Entertainment
A huge aspect of this Halloween event transformation was the terrifying interactive entertainment – including terrifying halloween walkabout acts!
Immersive Halloween Set Design
As a lover of the post-apocalyptic theme, the addition of zombies was a massive draw for me and the crowds! Using screen projections and live actors with interactive zombie games.
This juxtaposed well with the Carnival of the Dead Tree set design that embraced a more shall we say colourful side! Adding a festive feel to the event space.
At this event what was so mind blowing was the amount of detail put into the small and large infrastructures and set designs. This horror event showed the true importance of stage and set design throughout as a powerful delivery and theming tool for shows and props.

Twisted Halloween Event Theming
We like to take your delightful joyous themes and turn them on their head for Halloween! Adding our own twist means that some of the most popular event themes are just as relevant during the season.
Twisted Circus – see behind the dark curtain
We all know the circus theme as a captivating scenario with dazzling performances, acrobatic feats and a joyous atmosphere full of nostalgia and thrills.
Our client twisted circus party Halloween party was held at the Curtain Hotel in Shoreditch – transforming the basement ballrooms into our Halloween circus vision!
An Immersive Treat
What first hit me with this event was how every corner was an immersive treat – or trick.
Using the traditional colours of the circus – red and white. Julia and the team transformed the basements using black backdrops to make the colour and props pop.
A standout set design for me was the merryground graveyard. Greeted by a forlorn fairground horse and his trusty decapitated Halloween clown.
A Sight for Sore Eyes
What made this one of the most gruesome Halloween event transformations was that no prop was spared! From Giraffes to Elephants – this circus is a grisly zoo where nightmares come to life!
